The Centre for Affordable Water & Sanitation Technologies is a local Calgary Charity with an incredible success story. Their unique model of providing education, resources and engineering technology to humanitarian organizations worldwide has earned them a lot of success and praise. Note that CAWST has worked with over 6500 organizations in 164 countries to help improve water, sanitation and hygiene. We are proud to have partnered with CAWST and promote their work through regular fundraisers and events. CAWST’s Vision is a world where people have the opportunity to succeed because their basic water and sanitation needs have been met. Their Mission is to provide technical training and consulting, and act as a centre of expertise in water and sanitation for the poor in developing countries. Officially they are a Canadian charity and licensed not-for-profit professional engineering consultancy teaching people how to bring safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene in their homes, schools and clinics, using simple, affordable technologies.

We love to support the handmade arts. We regularly support local artisans and artists through donations of project materials. We also purchase handmade products and promote local artisans through our social media channels, helping to bring their unique creations to a wider audience. By choosing to support handmade arts, we aim to preserve traditional craftsmanship and celebrate the creativity that makes our community special. Our dedication includes not only financial contributions but also sharing the stories and inspirations behind these handmade goods. We believe that every piece of art tells a story, and by supporting artisans, we help keep those stories alive. Through our continued efforts, we hope to inspire others to appreciate and invest in handmade artistry.

Urban Thrift’s owner Domenic is a born and raised Calgarian. He believes in supporting Calgary’s local business, charities and community organizations.
