Second hand doesn’t mean second rate and you can feel good about helping the environment
Domenic Stante and Kelly Knight are part of that new breed of thrifters and are acutely aware of the environmental impact unused items have on our society; so much so that they purchased “Urban Thrift” a trendy Thrift Store in NE Calgary.
“Kelly and I have always been avid garage salers and thrifters so when we had the opportunity to purchase Urban Thrift it seemed like a great opportunity to start a business of our own and help us further the causes that are important to us” Urban Thrift was originally started in 2007, and has developed a loyal following in the thrift community. The boutique feeling of Urban Thrift has made it one of the most popular secondhand shops in Calgary, and a regular stop for those who make their rounds in a neighborhood known for its many thrift stores. “Each thrift store has its own flavor and Urban Thrift always strives to always have interesting items and meticulously selected fashions and accessories” Domenic says “but it is definitely our staff that sets us apart. We call them thrift stylists and our customers often comment on how friendly and helpful they are. It’s what separates us from other thrift stores and makes the thrift experience special”
